The Academic Team is a competitive, academic club.  Players attend practices and then represent SFMS at competitions against other schools in the area.  Topics include science, geography, history, literature, math, art, music, sports, pop culture, and more! If you enjoy trivia, Academic Team would be a great fit!

How to Join: - The team size is limited. Students must try out.  The tryout exam consists of questions on all topics listed above. There are both written and listening sections.  Scores on the exam combined with teacher recommendations determine who makes the team. 

When: - Team tryouts are held at the end of August.  Practices begin in mid-September.  We practice two mornings a week.

Cost: - There is a $90 fee for members.  This fee covers practice materials, competition fees, team shirts, buzzer replacement parts, and snacks. 

Who:- All students grades 6-8 are eligible to tryout.
