    ¡Bienvenido!

Welcome to Spanish class!  At Little Mill Middle School, students learn to comprehend, read, write, and speak in Spanish. It is our goal to help students reach their full potential whether they have studied Spanish in the past or if this is their first opportunity to learn the language.

     Spanish I

Students enrolled in Spanish I follow the high school curriculum. Upon successful completion of level I, students are eligible to receive high school credit and enter their freshman year in level II Spanish. Over the course of Spanish I, students focus on communication (reading, writing, speaking, and listening) in the Spanish language. Students will complete activities such as oral presentations, group presentations, role-play, conversations, skits, projects, readings, writing activities, songs, and games. This course will require ongoing studying, memorization, and practice in order to build the foundation necessary to succeed at this level and beyond.

    Spanish for Native Speakers 1

Students enrolled in Spanish for Native Speakers 1 must demonstrate proficiency in the language by taking the Avant STAMP4s Proficiency Test. This course focuses on the development of communicative competence in reading, writing, speaking, and listening, as well as understanding the Hispanic culture and issues of identity of heritage speakers of Spanish in the United States. Students will also develop an awareness and understanding of Hispanic culture, including language variation, customs, geography, history, and current events.

We are confident that your child will enjoy Spanish class and that you will be surprised by what they learn throughout the year.
